One Year On

A year ago you left us,
The path you walked finished,
Your footsteps came to an end.
***
And yet I hear your voice,
See your distinctive wide smile,
Feel the warmth your words gave.
***
There are large gaps,
Where you took your place,
Leaving only memories in your wake.
***
When life is not easy,
I still look to you for guidance,
And your guidance still helps me.
***
A year ago you left us,
But in our minds and hearts,
We all know you are still there.
