To Visit You – Poem by The Pesky Poet

People ask for the visiting times,
And there is no response,
People beg for just a glimpse,
But their lips remain locked.
I've begged for a staircase,
I've begged for an escalator,
I've begged for a lift,
But life is the only way I'm getting there.
People pray for just some way,
To see a loved one again,
But there he sit on your throne,
Not willing to let family in.
I've begged for a ship,
I've begged for an elevator,
I've begged for some way,
But life is the only way I'm getting there, to see you.
When family pass beyond,
Not even the stars can help,
There is no way to speak,
They cannot be reached.
We've begged for a sign,
We've begged for a line,
We've begged for a say,
But life is the only way we are getting to speak again.
