People ask for the visiting times, And there is no response, People beg for just a glimpse, But their lips remain locked. *** I've begged for a staircase, I've begged for an escalator, I've begged for a lift, But life is the only way I'm getting there. *** People pray for just some way, To see a loved one again, But there he sit on your throne, Not willing to let family in. *** I've begged for a ship, I've begged for an elevator, I've begged for some way, But life is the only way I'm getting there, to see you. *** When family pass beyond, Not even the stars can help, There is no way to speak, They cannot be reached. *** We've begged for a sign, We've begged for a line, We've begged for a say, But life is the only way we are getting to speak again.
