Just Memories in my Mind – Poem by the Pesky Poet

I no longer hear their voice,
And no longer see their face,
No longer have interaction,
At least not in this time or place.
In the back of my mind,
I have long conversations,
And heated debates,
And I can still touch their face.
As time continues on,
Those faces grow fainter,
The voices grow more distant,
Day by day they fade away.
But the marks they have made,
On this ageing heart,
Will never fade or degrade,
Until it's beating stops.
The memories I have,
Are mine and mine alone,
I will cherish them forever,
Until I'm old and gone.
