World Poetry Day: International Language

Poetry is an internationally understood language,
Each country with it’s own variant,
Some sung, some spoken and some hidden.
***
Every person feels it differently,
And no two people hear the same,
We all experience it our own way.
***
Take this time to think about poetry,
That one poem that made you feel sad,
And that one poem that made you glad.
***
We use poetry to remember those passed,
And to immortalise things in the past,
Or we use it just as a way to have a laugh.
***
Celebrate the world of poetry today,
Read something new and share it,
And please have a Happy World Poetry Day.

World Poetry Day: As Poetry

It’s such a joy,
To speak to you,
In such a format,
As poetry.
***
It is my passion,
To write it down,
In the loved way,
As poetry.
***
It is my thanks,
To you my reader,
In reading my work,
As poetry.

Another Petal Falls

A rosebush is like a family.
Each home is a rose.
The petals the people.
***
Just as people pass.
The petals fall.
Eventually the rose is bare.
***
A home may close.
The flower may wither.
But the rosebush keeps growing.
***
Each petal is remembered.
Every rose is not forgot.
The rosebush is not lost.
***
So remember each petal.
And don’t forget each rose.
Watch as the rosebush grows.

Illegal Love Of 1947

I sit in my cell,
Thinking about my sin,
Wondering what I have done,
Thinking about him,
I sit on my own.
***
I stand by the window,
Thinking what is love really,
Wondering what could have been done,
Thinking what is reality,
I stand by myself.
***
I love a man,
Thinking what is wrong,
Wondering what society has done,
Thinking why love is gone,
I love on my own.

Time Moves

Autumn leaves on Summer trees,
Honey bees on Autumn leaves,
Time moves on so we might see,
those honey bees on Autumn leaves,
and Autumn leaves on Summer trees,
When we wake tomorrow.

Alternative Facts

We live in a time,
Filled with opinion not fact,
Filled with fantasy not news,
Where WordPress depresses,
And claims to be views.
***
We are closer to war,
Believing alternative facts,
Believing alternative news,
The rumour mill,
And the next daily sleuth.
***
Where are we going,
When alternative news becomes fact,
When alternative fact becomes news,
Are we lining our destruction,
Pulling the pin, lightning the fuse.
***
Is it not our right,
To believe alternative facts,
To believe alternative news,
Spreading our world,
Sharing our views.
***
Rights have responsibility,
Like teaching real facts,
Like dispelling fake news,
So be responsible and teach,
But not just your views.

We Once Said I Love You

You once said I love you without force,
Without pain, without remorse,
What we had was special,
But the bitterness came,
First it was just arguing,
Behind locked doors, then in public.
***
I once said I love you without wincing,
Without a sigh, without rolling my eyes,
What we had felt right,
But the cruelty came,
And we drifted apart,
Lived separately, Then moved apart.
***
We once said I love you without spite,
Without sarcasm, Without venum,
What we had worked,
But what finally came,
And finally ended it,
Was sharp words, and harsher jibes.
