Christmas Countdown 2018: 23. Advent Candles

My first candle was for Hope,
The hope for the year to come,
The hope for everyone,
A reminder of things to come,
And things that could have been.
***
The second candle was for Peace,
Not just at home with family,
But with everyone around the world,
A reminder that Peace,
Is not just a worldwide or home based problem.
***
Last week’s candle was for Joy,
The sense we feel around friends,
When we have successes,
A reminder of the positive in the world,
Even when the world can look bleak.
***
Today I light the last candle,
The candle for Love,
To me it is a reminder,
Not to forget the loved ones I’ve lost,
And the loved ones I have.
***
You don’t have to be a Christian,
To light a candle at this time of year.
Light is a symbol universally,
No matter your faith or fear.
Today I light my candle for Love,
And watch Hope, Peace and Joy glow.
My candles light a path for me,
Through the dark part of my year.
Through loss of loved ones,
These candles will help me see my way.

Please support a poet. Poetry is not a money maker but you can support it. Even a simple like or share can be enough. Grab a copy of the most recent book or reach out and ask how else you can support.

While not poetry, I have recently published a Sci-Fi book worked on since Uni. Along with 3 friends we built a complete world and now that world is finally available to you… Or at least the first of four books… If you like Sci-Fi you can grab it here:
