Comes over us,
Making the world dark.
But tomorrow will be light,
And shorter will be the night,
bringing back the warmth.
Although today is dark,
Look to tomorrow,
As the start of a brighter time.
It’s become tradition,
To write a thank you to all my readers,
Without you I’d be writing for nothing.
Thank you for your Likes and Follows,
They are very appreciated,
And make this project worth while.
This year has been amazing,
More than 800 visitors, 1100 views, 170 likes,
All thanks to you.
So here’s to 2019,
A scary thought if you ask me,
For a 3 year project started in 2012.
Why do we do this every year,
We over do it on christmas cheer,
And manage to cook more bird than we need,
So you end up with sandwiches, curries and all things turkey,
Somehow you find ways,
You’ve never done before,
To use the meat of the oversized bird,
Without letting any go to waste.
My first candle was for Hope,
The hope for the year to come,
The hope for everyone,
A reminder of things to come,
And things that could have been.
The second candle was for Peace,
Not just at home with family,
But with everyone around the world,
A reminder that Peace,
Is not just a worldwide or home based problem.
Last week’s candle was for Joy,
The sense we feel around friends,
When we have successes,
A reminder of the positive in the world,
Even when the world can look bleak.
Today I light the last candle,
The candle for Love,
To me it is a reminder,
Not to forget the loved ones I’ve lost,
And the loved ones I have.
You don’t have to be a Christian,
To light a candle at this time of year.
Light is a symbol universally,
No matter your faith or fear.
Today I light my candle for Love,
And watch Hope, Peace and Joy glow.
My candles light a path for me,
Through the dark part of my year.
Through loss of loved ones,
These candles will help me see my way.
The ground turns hard,
The sky turns grey,
The world becomes cold,
As we near the end of the day.
The wind begins to howl,
The night begins to clear,
Giving way to the white,
Of Christmas Cheer.
The children are out playing,
On the temporary play turf,
Making the most of it,
Before it goes for another year.
21st is here,
And that only mans one thing,
The darkest day of the year.
In history we would have freed,
The sun not returning,
Or the forest not being here.
Now we can appreciate,
The beauty of it all,
Now it is scientifically clear.
The sun will rise,
The trees will grow,
And winter will be here.
