Unasked Questions – Poem by the Pesky Poet

Where where you when the land stood still,
When the guns fell silent,
When the last shot killed?
***
Where were you when the world stopped turning,
When the wind stopped blowing,
When the ground stopped burning?
***
Where were you when your job was done,
And the war was over,
And the drinks did run?
***
These are all questions I never did ask,
Because the war stopped you,
From speaking of the past.
