We Sent Them Off On A Drumbeat

There was a time gone by,
Where the world was full of hate,
And man didn’t see eye to eye.
***
Millions died and more fled,
The countries of their birth,
To find a safe bed.
***
Many never went home,
And some never lived long,
And those at home feared the bomb.
***
But our boys went marching,
Side by side in one together,
Sharing the bond that was heartening.
***
They were told of what to expect,
But that would not fully outline,
What they would learn to respect.
***
Our men did not retreat,
They marched together as,
We sent them off with a drumbeat.
***
Now we remember their lives,
And don’t forget their sacrifice,
So that I may live at home free.

They Were Just Boys

They were just boys,
Some with parents to go back to,
Some with families young,
Some never tasting life,
Before it would shortly be done.
***
They were just boys,
Sat there in the boats,
Sat with their thoughts,
Sat on their own,
With everyone around them.
***
They were just boys,
Landing from the skies
Landing on the beaches,
Landing Where they,
Had never stepped before.
***
They were just boys,
With a gun in hand,
With wet legs,
With thoughts of home,
Praying to get back there.
***
They were just boys,
When they stood up to hate,
When they stood up to fear,
When they stood up for peace,
With gunfire in their ear.
***
They were just boys,
Who brought us safety,
Who brought us peace,
Who brought us an end,
To the fighting and war.

Lest We Forget

Lest we forget the guns all stopped firing,
Lest we forget the drums all stopped banging,
Lest we forget the bells strike eleven,
Lest we forget the guys up in heaven,
Lest we forget all the lives that were lost,
Lest we forget all the shock that it caused,
Lest we forget the pain and the suffering,
Lest we forget the blood and the pain,
Lest we forget the poppy and it’s meaning,
Lest we forget the cause of it all,
Lest we forget this armistice day.

They Will Not Win

We stand together,
Stand as one,
We stand against them,
They have not won,
We will stand strong,
And show them all,
They won’t win,
No not at all.

Remember

On this day,
Remembrance Sunday,
I will Remember the fallen,
I will Remember the wounded
And I will Remember the fighting.
*
They fought the fight to keep us safe,
They fight the battle to this day,
The bravery and valor with which the fight,
Has made it safer for me.
*
Thank you to those fallen,
Your lives wont be forgotten,
Thank you to those survivors,
Your lives show our victories,
Thank you to those fighting,
Taking the hard task to make each citizen safe.
*
To those fighting,
May you have a quick and safe journey home,
Back to the land you protect.
*
To them all,
I salute you.
