22. Cold of Snow

The ground turns hard,
The sky turns grey,
The world becomes cold,
As we near the end of the day.
***
The wind begins to howl,
The night begins to clear,
Giving way to the white,
Of Christmas Cheer.
***
The children are out playing,
On the temporary play turf,
Making the most of it,
Before it goes for another year.

21. Happy Solstice

21st is here,
And that only mans one thing,
The darkest day of the year.
In history we would have freed,
The sun not returning,
Or the forest not being here.
Now we can appreciate,
The beauty of it all,
Now it is scientifically clear.
The sun will rise,
The trees will grow,
And winter will be here.

19. Snow Men

There are snow men,
With snow balls,
Rudolf calls,
And we deck the halls.
We shake hands,
And make plans,
Sing psalms,
And we meet our grans.
I write poems,
Clap my hands,
Smile at my plans,
And thank you my fans.

18. Present For You

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
There’s something under the tree,
Just for you.
***
Tulips are black,
Pansies are blue,
Christmas is nothing,
When I’m not with you.

17. Have You Got

Have you got your Christmas turkey,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
All the stuffing and the trimming,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
***
It’s all sitting in the freezer.
Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
Waiting for the Christmas morning.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
***
Kids excited for the presents,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
And everyone has gifts to share,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
***
Lets all sing in joy together,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.
And forget about the weather,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

16. Santa Claus

Santa Claus even if not here,
Brings joy to kids,
Every Year,
***
With his reindeer and sled,
And shiny bald head,
He comes and spreads cheer,
***
In supermarkets and stalls,
And even school halls,
His sits and waits this year,
***
He’ll soon be on his way,
After stocking his sleigh,
And Christmas Eve is here.

15. Ten Days To Go

Ten days to go,
And by now you all know,
Christmas is close,
And so is the snow,
In comes the cold,
Out comes the coal,
As the cold takes its toll.
***
Thermoses are filled,
Drinks are no longer chilled,
And the garden no longer has a rose,
But we wait in delight,
For that one starry night,
With only ten days to go.
