Our Lady of Paris

She has stood the test of time,
A sight for all who visit.
A mainstay of masonry,
A standing of french missionary,
Now she crumbles to the ground.
Reclaimed by time and land,
Today we stand with the French,
Hurting all as one.
She flickers in the red and amber,
lighting up the skyline,
Where she once stood prominent.

Illegal Love Of 1947

I sit in my cell,
Thinking about my sin,
Wondering what I have done,
Thinking about him,
I sit on my own.
***
I stand by the window,
Thinking what is love really,
Wondering what could have been done,
Thinking what is reality,
I stand by myself.
***
I love a man,
Thinking what is wrong,
Wondering what society has done,
Thinking why love is gone,
I love on my own.

Alternative Facts

We live in a time,
Filled with opinion not fact,
Filled with fantasy not news,
Where WordPress depresses,
And claims to be views.
***
We are closer to war,
Believing alternative facts,
Believing alternative news,
The rumour mill,
And the next daily sleuth.
***
Where are we going,
When alternative news becomes fact,
When alternative fact becomes news,
Are we lining our destruction,
Pulling the pin, lightning the fuse.
***
Is it not our right,
To believe alternative facts,
To believe alternative news,
Spreading our world,
Sharing our views.
***
Rights have responsibility,
Like teaching real facts,
Like dispelling fake news,
So be responsible and teach,
But not just your views.

What I Would Give

You could recite python,
Without missing a beat,
Make me smile,
From cheek to cheek,
Put me in stitches,
For over a week,
And say you love me,
As big as the street,
Now what I would give,
To hear goodnight one last time.

You could make eggs,
With a runny yoke,
Find the right time,
To tell the perfect joke,
Tried to fix things,
Or just give them a poke,
And say I love you,
As big as you know,
Now what I would give,
To say goodnight one last time.

Sorry For My Silence

We have been apart for so long,
Not spoken in word or song,
Haven’t said a word for years,
Not been at each others ears,
Time moves on day by day,
And we both work away,
Although we are silent,
We both know we aren’t absent,
One day we will sit down,
And chat for hours,
But for now,
Sorry for my silence,

Remember

On this day,
Remembrance Sunday,
I will Remember the fallen,
I will Remember the wounded
And I will Remember the fighting.
*
They fought the fight to keep us safe,
They fight the battle to this day,
The bravery and valor with which the fight,
Has made it safer for me.
*
Thank you to those fallen,
Your lives wont be forgotten,
Thank you to those survivors,
Your lives show our victories,
Thank you to those fighting,
Taking the hard task to make each citizen safe.
*
To those fighting,
May you have a quick and safe journey home,
Back to the land you protect.
*
To them all,
I salute you.

Winds Of Change

The air has turned cold,
The nights are darker,
The fall of the leaves,
Is almost over.
***
People grow tired,
The world grows weary,
Some people think winter,
And just go teary.
***
The lonely find Christmas,
Too much to bare,
And sometimes it seems,
People just don’t care.
***
Find someone who needs,
Someone who could use you,
Stretch out a hand,
And let them know they’re not alone.
***
Winter happens to us all,
It makes us cold,
And makes us scowl,
Some worse than others.
***
So this is my plea,
My Christmas wish,
Find someone who needs you,
And give them a hug and a kiss.
