As I walk down memory lane,
Every door is still the same,
Each property as it was,
All the faces unchanged.
***
As I walk down that road,
In the real world,
Nothing is as it was,
And no-one is the same.
***
There are houses I can see,
But will never go in again,
And people I can still hear,
Who I’ll never see again.
***
Those streets stay the same,
In the sanctity of my mind,
But time has not stood still,
Changing everything left behind.
