Christmas Countdown Poem 2024: 19. One Less Place at the Table

Another year, another chair,
Left untouched, but love is there.
Memories wrapped in candle’s glow,
Of those we’ve lost, but still we know.
***
Their laughter filled this room before,
Their presence lingers evermore.
With every carol, every cheer,
We feel them near, year after year.
***
A photo placed, a glass held high,
We toast to them with misty eyes.
Though absent now, their love remains,
In Christmas joys and soft refrains.
***
So as we gather, hearts entwined,
We cherish those who once were mine.
Though chairs grow fewer, love grows strong,
Their spirit sits with us ever long.
