Advent Poem 2023: Joy

Life has many joys,
The first cry of a baby,
The hug off a good friend,
The squeak of a puppy,
The sound of post,
When you expect good news,
Just to name a few.
***
At the end of the day,
I like to squirrel away,
A list of fond joys,
That days has brought,
By writing them down,
And letting them surround,
My drifting off thoughts.
***
So take a moment just now,
And think to yourself,
Of one joy from today,
Don't let it pass away,
Into your history,
Acknowledge it,
And cherish it.
