There is a sight that gets rarer,
Year after year after year,
Soon it could be as rare,
As seeing a flying reindeer.
***
That is not Santa with a sack,
It's the sack on the postie's back,
Brimming with cards and good wishes,
And a lot of friends' or family kisses.
***
Stacks of cards all personally written,
Signed, sealed, and stamped for sending,
Was once as common as tea in Britain,
Is becoming a scene to be forgotten.
