2019 Christmas Countdown 12: Cute Tree Haiku

Red light, Green Light, Blue,
This tree is flashing for you,
Doesn’t it look cute?

2019 Christmas Countdown 11: Who Politicised Christmas

Who the hell politicised Christmas,
A time that supposed to be fun,
No one wants to think about politics,
When they are doing the Christmas run,
But given the importance of this vote,
Please don’t forget to go out,
And cast you wishes whatever they may be,
Tomorrow when the vote comes about.

2019 Christmas Countdown 10: Christmas Tree

A stoic symbol to the life of the forest,
Something we aim to preserve,
A way of caring for mother nature,
And the other plants and animals of this earth.
***
Now a symbol of want and greed,
Put up to shade our presents,
We use it as a giant decoration,
A multi coloured shining tree.
***
Please use this time of year,
To remember the animals and plants,
Recycle reuse and dispose of responsibly,
Just like our ancestors Christmas tree plans.

2019 Christmas Countdown 9: Robin

Roaming over the land,
Over the bushes in your garden,
Bobbing between post to post,
It’s a symbol of the time of year,
Nothing says winter like a robin.

Advent 2019: 2 Faith

We light this candle for faith,
He hold a light to it in times of need,
And shine a light on it in times of hardship,
We ask for guidance from it in times of confusion.
***
Faith does not just mean religion,
You can have faith in many other things,
Such as the deep faith in love for ones family,
And the unmovable unbreakable faith in humanity.
***
Share your faith no mater its bases,
Show others where you get your strength,
Help others struggling to start finding theirs,
Let others known and learn from your strengths.

2019 Christmas Countdown 8: Christmas Shopping

Nothing beats the thrill,
Of walking under the warm draft,
Entering a highstreet shop,
From the cold step.
***
Finding things for others,
Toys, food and drink,
Knowing they will get opened,
After Christmas eve.
***
Picking stocking fillers,
And kids new toys,
Stuff to play with,
For girls and boys.
***
But after the buying,
Comes the wrapping,
The next job needing done,
on the big Christmas list.

2019 Christmas Countdown 7: Christmas Card From Afar

In this time of electronic communication,
There is still one postage that gets us sending,
Cards are a perfect way to say,
Merry Christmas to you on this day.
***
Cards are sent from all corners of the world,
Where Christmas is a barbecue down by the reef,
Followed by something cooling and sweet,
Or it could mean snowmen in the garden.
***
Within that pile of letters and circulars,
It is nice to see a card shaped bill,
One that on opening will bring you a thrill,
A Merry Christmas from someone who remembers you still.

2019 Christmas Countdown 6: They’re Coming

Brace yourself,
For they are coming.
Every year,
They take to huffing.
No smiles,
Will be on their face.
No cheer,
Will they share today.
Bah Humbug,
They will all oblige.
Scrooges!
Have come so lets hide.

2019 Christmas Countdown 5: It’s Christmas Haiku

Now That It’s Christmas,
Show love and peace to all men,
And let your love shine.

Now That It’s Christmas,
Show love and peace to all men,
In Gods name Amen.

2019 Christmas Countdown 4: Christmas Shop Fronts

Shops get all dressed up,
At this time of year,
To share and be known,
The Christmas Cheer.
***
Windows with lights round,
And deer on the ground,
Santa sat in the back,
Next to a present
***
Frosty sells another toy,
For a stocking of a girl or boy,
The shops flow with Christmas joy,
At this time of year.

2019 Christmas Countdown 3: They’ve Defrosted Bublé

It’s a sure sign Christmas has come,
As the great singer wakes,
From his slumber down under,
And shares a song with everyone.
***
A new album and some cheer,
Maybe a sweet jungle bells,
Or something more swing,
We all recognise his deep voice.
***
So lets acknowledged,
They’ve defrosted Bublé,
And that it must be,
Close to Christmas.

2019 Christmas Countdown 2: Christmas Card

Christmas comes but once a year,
Helping people remember their,
Roots and where they come from.
Instead of fighting and hating,
Share love and go skating,
Trim the turkey and share in drinking.
Merry singers stand on corners,
Announcing their choral warmers,
Sharing joy and love to walkers.

Come and join the cheer with me,
And dance around the Christmas tree,
Rejoice for all the world to see,
Denouncing hate and animosity.

My Red Ribbon

We live in exciting time,
Of medical miracles,
And wonderful drugs.
***
But that doesn’t,
Stop the need,
To raise awareness,
Of the disease.
***
So I adorn my ribbon,
And let it be known,
Seek advise of the unknown.

Advent 2019: 1 Hope

In this time of darkness,
Where the world seems bleak,
We are given one message,
Sunday this week,
As we light our candle,
With purple hue,
We are told to feel,
The hope in me and you.

2019 Christmas Countdown 1: Advent Sunday

Day number one,
Of the Christmas Countdown,
Another year draws to a close,
Celebrate the Advent with me,
While the winter wind blows.
***
Each day to Christmas,
Then on to new year,
A poem will be published,
Chronicling the journey there,
***
While Advent Sunday,
Falls on the first,
May this December be fun,
Right through to January.

2019 Christmas Countdown 0: The Countdown Has Begun

Hear me, hear me,
One and all.
Christmas is coming,
The countdown in running.
A poem a day,
Is on the way.
So stay tuned to me,
For you will see,
The Christmas Countdown by Pesky Poetry.

Ode to a Collie

A sheep wrangler,
A fluffy hugger,
A muddy runner,
These are some,
Of the qualities,
Of a collie.
***
A lazy sleeper,
A fire hogger,
A bone scoffer,
All things done,
With great fun,
By my cute collie.
***
A watchful friend,
A fierce protector,
A valiant defender,
What more can I say,
About my loving,
Short haired collie.

If I Leave Tonight

If I leave tonight,
And pass from this life,
Don’t morn for me,
Or wish me to life.
***
Just look up,
And see the stars,
Think of me,
Where you are.
***
I may not be,
There beside you,
But we both see,
The sky that you do.

My ABCz

After so much time,
Building a poetry profile,
Chances are I’ve written enough,
Done my fair share worthwhile,
Even when times were tough,
For a novice to write,
Gives a sense of pride,
Helping create my highlights,
Impressing those where I bide,
Just the thought of a challenge,
Keeps me writing all night,
Like an eagle with talons,
Makes me want to take flight,
No-one said it’d be easy,
Only that it’d be fun,
Playing with words like breezy,
Quenches me when I’m done,
Right when I wan’t to stop,
Seems to be the perfect time to start,
To write something that pops,
Until the sky is dark,
Verging on the redundant,
With the chance of being bad,
Xerographically showing what is abundant,
Yearning to make you glad,
Zooming me forward.

A Poet Without Their Pen

A poet without her pen,
Is a poet without her voice.
Muted and silent,
For no-one to read.
Unheard among the masses,
Unseen among the trees.
***
A poet without his pen,
Is a poet without his power.
Weak and feeble,
Not able to help.
Unable to fight injustice,
Unacknowledged in the struggle.
***
A poet with their pen,
Is a poet at their strongest.
Loud and visible,
Speaking for those who can’t.
Shouting for those in need,
Screaming to help the world.

Today I Thought Of You

I thought of you today,
That is nothing new,
But I cannot tell you.
***
You were always there,
And I never knew,
How much I’d miss you.
***
So in the words you loved,
Life’s a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
***
Without you here,
I’ll live by your ways,
And enjoy my life.

Grow My Readers

This is a time limited post,
More a plea to all my readers,
I’m trying to grow my reader base,
in the vain attempt to make my dreams closer to reality,
I know I’m no God’s gift to poetry,
Please feel free to say no to me,
But could you find it in your heart,
Would you mind sharing my site,
With your readers, friends and families?
Ask them to follow,
And read through my poems.
I’ll happily do the same in return,
Thank you for your continued reading.

Cherry Blossom

The trees are heavy,
Blowing in the wind,
The ground changes,
A shade of pink.
***
The trees shed their spring coat,
And leave sprinkle their colour,
Over the paths and the roads,
Signalling the middle of spring.
***
Look around now,
And cherish the sight,
All the wonder,
Of Cherry Blossom.

Little Laidback Ladybug

Sat on a rock,
At the height of the day,
Is a little spotty friend,
Whiling the time away,
Just waiting for aphids,
To chew upon,
It rests and waits,
For dinner to come,
It’s alliteral little laidback ladybug.
