The mantel has filled,
With cards from friends,
From far sides of the world,
And from family,
Who just live down the road.
***
Each card filled with well wishes,
Of a Happy or Merry Christmas,
And a hope for the New Year,
To be better than,
The ones we’ve left in the past.
***
Each card carries some love,
That fills up the spaces,
Above the fireplace,
Or on the hearth,
And in our hearts.
