29. What’s That Over The Hill?

What’s that coming over the hill?
Is it Easter? Could it be Easter?
When’s too early for shops to stock?
Eggs for Easter? For Easter.
Why have you read a poem in Decembre?
About Easter? Easter!

25. Turkey and Wine

Christmas time,
Turkey and Wine,
Parents mumbling Christmas rhymes.
There cake in the fridge,
Queen’s speech on the news,
Time to rejoice all the good we can do,
It’s a time for drinking,
A time for overeating,
A time for napping,
off all the food we have eaten.

25. Christmas Thanks

Thank you all,
For another year,
Of reading my attempt,
To spread Christmas cheer,
***
The next week,
Will be new year,
So please keep reading,
The last countdown here.
***
All that’s left,
Is for me to say,
Merry Christmas to you,
Happy New Year on the way.

24. Sweet Old Saint Nic

He’s climbing in your window,
Laying your presents out,
Bringing joy to your house,
And not waking your kids up,
He’s made his list,
And he has checked it twice,
He knows who is naughty,
And who has been nice,
Here comes Saint Nic,
All quiet and sweet,
Sneaking around,
While everyone sleeps.

12. Christmas Round The World

The Aussies have their barbecues,
The Eskimos build their igloos,
The Scots grab their sleds,
And the bears go to bed.
***
Each corner of the earth,
Has it’s own ways to go,
Whether that’s sunny,
Or temperatures subzero.
***
One thing we all share,
Is spreading cheer,
And sharing what we have,
With those who do not.

6. Decorate That Tree

Get the boxes out,
Blow off the dust,
Clean out the lites,
Buff the tinsel up,
Open the tree,
Argue about baubles,
And who does the fairy,
Or is it a star,
Who give a care,
By the end of today,
Let’s just have one up anyway.

1. The First Chocolate

It’s that first crisp morning,
When you sneak out of bed,
Head down the stairs,
Grab your calendar,
And hear that door tear,
underneath is that sweetest of treats,
The first seasons chocolate,
There for you to eat.
